Batman's Ironman Coeur d'Alene 2008 Race Report

Executive Summary

This is kind of long, so if you have ADD this part is for you. My first Ironman was a great experience. It was a long tough day, but I finished with a time of 13:54:56.

Background

I can’t really say that I had a reason for doing an Ironman. I signed up because the week after CDA 2007 there was a bunch of people on the Tri Cowtown forum indicating they had signed up. I just jumped in on the band wagon. I had never even considered doing an Ironman, I would have been totally content to do Sprint races.

I’m glad I did.

My last race was two years ago and it was a Sprint distance race (my longest race as well).

Mikey's Iroman CDA 2008 race report

First the list of people to thank for help and support is too long to place here, but hopefully they know who they are and how much I appreciate it.

The swim at CDA was cold but we were allowed booties and a neoprene cap so I never really noticed the cold, by the time the adrenaline wore off, I was already used to the water.

Heidi's Ironman CDA 2007 race report

June 24, 2007 - After a year of planning, fundraising for Fisher House, and training my butt off, the day finally came when I would become an Ironman.

Race morning I woke up nervous and ate breakfast way too fast (don’t do this, you‘ll get air in your stomach). I got all my stuff together and drove downtown. It took awhile to find a parking spot because there were signs that said not to park in front of private residences. I recommend ignoring the signs and parking wherever you want to on the day of the race.

CJBryan IM Arizona Race Report

The atmosphere of the Ironman is something amazing. There is nothing but positive (and slightly nervous) energy in the air. As I did a cannonball into Tempe Town Lake, I knew this was going to be an awesome day.

tri4fun IM Arizona Race Report

While it is still fresh and I remain on a buzz...Drove from Dallas because I did not want to forget anything. I actually enjoyed the solitude and time to just think. It was a relief not to have to think about my bike getting there in one piece for my first IM venture. Couple that with the American Airlines fiasco, for which Dallas is the hub, I made the right choice. Plus I spent the bucks to stay at the host hotel. Point is for first timers spend the money and try and remove any potential barriers so you can have less stress.

White Cell (Rock) Marathon Report

I am new to the area and preparing for my first IM (AZ). Having done many tris over the years, I thought it would be a confidence builder to do a marathon prior to the acutal IM. So as we were preparing to move to Nort Texas, I identified White Cell (Rock) as my virgin run. I pulled a "beginner" marathon training plan off of the Runners World website. I stuck to it faithfully while maintaining my base for IM.

Since all the cool kids are race reporting I will too. We shall call this views from the back of the half marathon field. The Sea was angry that day men. Angry like an old man trying to return soup at a deli (Seinfeld refrence). Seriously we all know it was miserable. But my day started out okay woke up showered, dressed, went to the AA center. It was then that I discovered I had left my bib at home.

Well my first marathon is now under my belt and I feel pretty good about it. My race report is fairly uneventful but it goes without saying that I really learned a lot!

(go into the Way Back Machine)

Tri-Golfers White Rock Marathon Race Report

Started off by spending the night with my brother, who live just a mile from the AAC; which was nice to be a ble to sleep in a little and catch the weather reports. Got up and had a slice of leftover pizza and some gatoraid and watched the weather channel. Saw that there would be a good chance of rain, and cold wind so I decided to bring plenty of clothes.

I woke up at about 3:45 before the alarm went off. I ate a banana and a wheat bagel with peanut butter for breakfast. I took a hot shower to loosen my muscles, and then I got dressed in all of my layers.
